CHEYENNE CHIEF, TRIBAL HISTORIAN, AND NATIONAL PARK SERVICE CONSULTANT LAIRD WHITEBIRD COMETSEVAH

Cheyenne Chief Laird Whitebird Cometsevah died in Clinton, Oklahoma on March 26, 2008. Mr. Cometsevah was integral to the establishment of the Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site, having worked as a partner with the National Park Service for many years. Mr. Cometsevahs’ legacy is timeless, and his wisdom and knowledge will continue to exert a profound influence on the future of the Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site.
