New Book Store for at HQ office for Sand Creek
Massacre NHS

Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site and
Western National Parks Association have partnered to open a new book
store in Eads, CO. The store is operated by Western National Parks
Association through a cooperative agreement with the National Park
Service. “The books and other items in the store offer visitors to
Kiowa County a better appreciation for the historic significance that
has made Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site part of our cultural
heritage” Nancy Stimson, Chief of Interpretation.
Western National Parks Association operates
bookstores in sixty-five National Park Service sites throughout the
western United States. The National Park Service preserves and protects
special places such as Sand Creek Massacre NHS that help tell the story
of our country. Western National Parks Association develops
publications and products that help communicate that story to national
park visitors. Western National Parks Association supports parks by
producing more than a half million pieces of free literature annually,
including trail guides, newspapers, schedules, and brochures.

Colorado on Hwy 287. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. MST except Federal Holidays when the office is
closed.
The Sand Creek Massacre site is located 23 miles
from Eads, CO. To drive to the site take Colorado Hwy. 287 near Eads,
or west off Hwy 385 at Sheridan Lake. Near Chivington, turn north onto
County Road 54: or at Brandon, turn north onto County Road 59. Follow
either road to its entrance with County Road W, one mile east (right) of
its intersection with County Road 54, or several miles west (left) of
County Rd. 59.
