The dedication ceremony of the
Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site will create
the 391st National Park unit nationwide.
This event is the culmination of more than a decade’s
worth of study, consultation and legislative efforts
which recognizes both a shameful event in our nation’s
history and the universal lessons that come with
respectful tolerance of others. In addition to being a
formal government dedication, the event has deep,
spiritual meaning for the descendents of the four
sovereign Tribes whose ancestors were killed there.
Please be respectful of our
American Indian partners and arrange, through the
official media contacts, interview requests for the day
of the event.
The day of the event will feature
formal activities at the site and a wide range of
celebration activities in the Town of Eads.
The dedication event will be a
controlled access event with media availabilities and
satellite truck space available.
A complete list of interview
opportunities, maps and other information is available
through the listed media contacts.
