Park Superintendent on Louisiana Assignment

Alexa Roberts, Superintendent of the Sand
Creek Massacre National Historic Site will be out of the office during
February, 2006. Superintendent Roberts has accepted a 30 day detail to work
in New Orleans, Louisiana. Roberts will be assisting FEMA with their legal
responsibility to consult with federally recognized Indian tribes in
Louisiana about FEMA’s clean up efforts after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Roberts will be working with FEMA, the Louisiana State Historic Preservation
Office, the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, and Representatives
of the Chitimacha, Tunica-Biloxi, Coushatta, and Choctaw Nations.
During Alexa’s absence, Cindy Ott-Jones,
Superintendent at Bent’s Old Fort National Historic Site, near La Junta,
will be the Acting Superintendent for the Sand Creek Massacre Site.
